How much does a log cabin cost? The Cabin costs range depending on the size & style. Please check out our base prices or contact us for a quote based on a layout you send us. You can send the layout to info@waysidelawnstructures.com.
What sizes are available? Our sizes range from 4x4 "Outhouses" to 24'x40' Built on Site Cabins. Our Portable Line include Playhouses and Hunter Model delivered fully assembled and mostly Turn-key up to 12'x36' or 14'x32'.
Can the cabin be customized to my needs? Yes! We offer customizable cabins and if you provide us a layout, we'll quote it out for you. You can also stop in by appointment and we'll create a layout together.
What is the difference between cabin models? Under Portable Cabins, we offer the Pioneer Playhouse, The Breezewood (Screened in), The Hunter Cabin (Low Profile); and under Built on Site we offer the Hunter Deluxe and Hunter Supreme, as well as the Pioneer Deluxe & Supreme. The difference between the deluxe and supreme models are the size of the logs and the size of the cabin. The Supreme Model tends to run larger sizes and have higher insulating value.
What timeline should I expect from order to delivery? Lead Time can typically range from 3 to 8 Months.
What type of logs are used? Eastern White Pine
Are the logs treated or sealed? The Pre-Built Models are Stained with Perma-Chink Ultra 2 Exterior Stain with Zinc Borate & Citronella added for longevity.
How often should I stain or seal the cabin? You should re-stain or refinish the cabin every 5 to 7 years for most applications. In High UV areas or under dense foilage, you may want to refinish the cabin more often.
Are the walls insulated or can insulation be added? The Standard Cabin comes with Solid 4x6 or 6x8 "D" Shaped Logs which serve to produce the equivalent thermal value to the same wall thickness with insulation.
What kind of flooring is included? The Standard Floor is Treated or White Pine 2" Tongue & Groove Floor with the option to upgrade to a Vinyl Laminate Floor (Either Gunstock or Nutmeg).
Is this cabin suitable for year-round use? You'll need to upgarde to the optional Thermopane Window Package and insulated Floor and Roof to use as a 4 season cabin although using as a hunting cabin with a woodburner would go a long way toward maintaining a heated cabin.
Can I add plumbing or electricity? You can either choose our electrical package and have the wiring hidden inside the logs or do it yourself using conduit on the outside of the logs. For plumbing we have more options available for our Pre-Built Portable Cabins (Hunter Model - Not Deluxe or Supreme).
Does it come with windows and doors? The cabin comes standard with one entry door. Windows are optional.
Are lofts, porches, or overhangs included or optional? Porches on the Hunter model are Optional. The Pioneer Playhouse, Pioneer Deluxe, & the Pioneer Supreme come standard with a Porch on the Long (Length) Side.
Can it be upgraded with things like thicker logs, dormers, or roofing changes? We can upgrade from 4x6 Logs to 6x8 Logs on the Deluxe Model. Dormers and Roof Pitch Changes are available by request - locally.
Do you offer site prep, or does the customer handle it? The customer is responsible for Site Preparation; however, call (330) 482-0078 or email info@waysidelawnstructures.com for specific instructions and/or potential site preparation by Wayside.
How much space is needed for delivery? For a portable cabin, we'll need at least 4' wider than the size of the cabin and a clearance of 15' Overall Height.
Can it be delivered fully assembled or is it built on site? We have both options available, however will be specifically tied to the exact model you choose.
Do I need a foundation, concrete pad, or gravel base? You will need some sort of foundation, whether crushed limestone #617, a concrete pad, post & beam platform, crawlspace, or basement. It may depend on your zoning.
What are the delivery fees? The Base prices as shown on our cabin pages include local delivery.
Do I need a permit to install a cabin? Every location is different and you'll need to check with your local building department and zoning department for their requirements.
Do you provide drawings for permits? We do not provide any stamped drawings. If those are required, you might be better off going with conventional framing vs. log construction.
Is financing or rent-to-own available? No. If you need assistance, you could check with your local bank for a home-equity loan or an unsecured improvement loan.
